Introducing Modal into Kooshi’s latest collection

We have been using high grade rayon and cotton for our sleepwear collection and now, for the first time, we are introducing Modal to our collection. A higher grade of fabric compared to cotton and rayon. It is soft, smooth and breathes well. Encompassing all the good characteristics of cotton and rayon, it has high resistance to shrinkage as well. The colours are well absorbed and thus stay vibrant after repeated washes. We have decided that for the qualities it offers, it is a worthwhile investment!

Now what is Modal?

According to wikipedia,

” Modal is a bio-based fiber made by spinning reconstituted cellulose from beech trees. It is about 50% more hygroscopic, or water-absorbent, per unit volume than cotton is. It is designed to dye just like cotton, and is color-fast when washed in warm water. Modal is essentially a variety of rayon.”

It is a very popular material used for bed linens and towels as it is very soft and permeable. These characteristics are very suitable for sleepwear and underwear too.

Made from natural beech tree, it is totally natural and thus it is rare. The industry hardly use 100% modal but rather a blend with cotton or rayon. It makes the garment softer and literally feels nicer against the skin. Not only does Modal satisfy the comfort part, it’s existence in the fabric makes the garment more durable too. The colours stay fresh after multiple wash. It doesn’t shrink and will still look as good as new if you follow the washing instructions carefully.

We have been eyeing this fabric and we are very happy that we are now able to improve on our product range by offering this higher quality fabric. We will keep a constant lookout for nice fabrics so that you can enjoy wearing kooshi!

In the coming collection, we have a few styles using modal and here’s a little sneak preview. Our popular babydoll dress, Lynn is made of cotton and modal, a little too pretty to just keep it in the bedroom, you can wear it out for a picnic or a stroll in the park. For the bedroom, we have Lulu, made of rayon and modal, this set has a matching robe too!
